Ernst Haeckel, part 1 of 2
If you like the drawing style in the Codex Seraphinianus, then you'll probably share my love for Ernst Haeckel's scientific illustrations from Art Forms in Nature. See more of his work here, and in the 2nd part of this post tomorrow!

Wendy Macnaughton
I love, love, love San Francisco illustrator Wendy Macnaughton's wonderful lines, transparent colors, and handwriting. Really powerful. I highly recommend scrolling through her blog and seeing how her work has changed and developed.
I discovered her work via teaching literacy's post linking to her popular Meanwhile, at the San Francisco Public Library series (which I have since seen linked just about everywhere!).

Anatomy Pop-Ups
I often turn to medical and anatomy pop-ups and fold-outs when I need inspiration for my own pop-ups. I'm working on some animal pop-ups at the moment, and was pleased to discover this Duke University Library exhibit of anatomical flap books.
I learned of them via bioephemera.

Louise Richardson
I'm in love with Louise Richardson's shoes, clothes, butterflies, books, fiber art, and paper works. Wonderful combination of materials and content. See more on her flickr.
I originally discovered her work via Ullabenulla.
